Academic Excellence: Learning That Inspires
At Jesup, we don’t just aim for success — we achieve it. With around 1,000 students and a team of 185 dedicated teachers and staff, we’re able to provide personalized attention and a curriculum that challenges and excites. From critical thinking to real-world problem-solving, we prepare our students for whatever comes next, whether that’s college, a career, or something in between. Don’t just take our word for it, check out our latest results on the Iowa School Performance Profiles.
Invested in the Future: Updated Facilities
We have made steady progress on a number of projects, thanks to Larson Construction Co., aimed at improving safety, learning spaces and the overall experience for students, staff, and families.
New security doors have been installed at three main entrances to better control access to buildings. Updated security cameras have also been added to increase safety across campuses. Wi-Fi and internet systems have been upgraded, providing faster, more reliable connections throughout all schools.
From band concerts to school plays, the new 32,000 SF Auditorium will be the heart of the district’s fine arts program. With seating for 505, it’s a space built for creativity, connection and community. These improvements help make online learning and daily work smoother for everyone. Several areas across the district have also seen physical updates:
- New windows and flooring have been added in multiple buildings.
- Parking lots have been repaired and improved for better safety and traffic flow.
- Work continues at the sports complex to enhance facilities for both athletes and fans.
Community & Connection
Jesup is a town where everyone pitches in to make things better. We partner with the City of Jesup for recreation programs, offering before and after school care for young students, and endless opportunities for kids to get involved. Whether it’s sports, student organizations, or the arts, there’s something for every student to explore and enjoy. Located just 15 miles east of the Waterloo-Cedar Falls, Jesup offers the charm and safety of a close-knit community with the conveniences of nearby urban centers. Our town is known for its rich history, friendly residents, and a commitment to growth and development. Looking for housing? Our community is experiencing growth through several housing development projects aimed at accommodating its expanding community. New homes are being constructed now and will be available late in 2025 and beyond.
Our Schools
Elementary School
Welcome to Jesup Elementary School! Our Preschool–4th grade building serves about 430 students, with another 100 learning in our nearby rural school sites.
At Jesup Elementary, reading is at the heart of everything we do. We believe strong reading skills open the door to learning in every subject, and our dedicated staff works hard to support students academically and socially each day.
We invite you to visit Jesup Elementary and see why so many families choose to be part of our school community!
Jesup Early Childhood Program
The Jesup Early Childhood Program offers a supportive and fun place for your youngest students, from 3-Year-Old Preschool all the way through Pre-Kindergarten, Transitional Kindergarten (TK), and regular Kindergarten.
The programs are designed to help children grow in every way – academically, socially, and emotionally – making sure they are confident and ready for elementary school.
Middle School
Welcome to Jesup Middle School! We serve students in grades 5–8 and welcome about 240 learners each year. Our school is built on the district vision of “High Expectations, High Achievement.”
In our classrooms, learning is centered on the START approach. Lessons put students first, focus on understanding the Iowa Core, and use ongoing assessments to see how students are growing. Our curriculum is challenging, relevant, and designed to meet the needs of all learners.
Students also enjoy a variety of exploratory classes, including agriculture, engineering, Iowa history, financial literacy, guidance, and career exploration, technology, fine arts and health.
Our teachers choose to work with middle schoolers because they love being part of this exciting stage – when students move from dependent thinkers to confident, independent learners.
High School
Welcome to Jesup High School! Guided by the district vision of “High Expectations, High Achievement,” our school is home to about 210 students and 22 full- and part-time teachers.
We focus on helping students become strong thinkers and problem-solvers, while also preparing them for life after graduation – whether that means college, training programs, or entering the workforce. Students can choose from 99 courses, including 17 college-level options in 13 different subject areas.
Jesup High School also offers a wide range of activities, including athletics, band, choir, speech and drama, and many student clubs and organizations.
