Getting Started with Special Education

An Individualized Education Program (IEP) ensures that a student receives the support they need to succeed.

The Individualized Education Program (IEP) Implementation Cycle: Parents receive a copy of the IEP for their records. All staff who work with the students is given access to the IEP. All staff who work with the student meet to understand their roles in implementation. School team provides the student with their necessary services and supports. Student's progress toward goals is measured at least every two weeks and graphed. Parents receive progress reports at the report card time, at the annual review, and typically at the end of the school year. The IEP team is required by law to review the IEP annual or as needed. The new IEP is revised based on the review findings at least once per year, or through an amendment. Parents agree to the revised the IEP. (Cycle is repeated).
