Board Goals

Climate

The Board celebrates an engaging, caring, and inclusive environment built on strong interpersonal relationships measured by data received
through the Conditions of Learning Report and the Iowa Youth Survey.

Return to Learn

The Board will provide necessary support and governance to ensure that students are provided a safe and effective learning environment where current COVID-19 conditions are monitored in collaboration with Buchanan County Public Health in order to provide an effective learning environment that addresses potential skills gaps and learning loss from the COVID-19 pandemic.

College and Career Ready

The Board will promote age-appropriate 21st Century Skills in the regular curriculum, job shadows, internships, and other enrichment activities that may not otherwise be available locally, at ALL grade levels as identified in the Iowa Core Curriculum in order for students to be successful post-graduation. Instruction and assessment will be driven by practical real-world applications aligned with the Iowa Core Curriculum.

Finance

The Board will monitor the financial health of the school district and set a goal of maintaining a minimum cash balance of 10% of general fund expenditures and an unspent authority balance of 15% as measured in September of each year.
